With the soaring popularity of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and Mixed Martial Arts in general (MMA), many are attracted to take up an MMA workout for their own exercise routines. Most of the people adapting this form of workout are those looking to lose weight, build muscles or have ripped toned muscles, like bodies of MMA fighters.
With the MMA and UFC being so popular, aspects of mixed martial arts have become the standard of what makes a good workout. An MMA workout incorporates several MMA techniques including kicking, punching and even applying what could be considered lethal choke holds (not lethal when applied in a manner for MMA competition).

1. High Intensity Training
Fighters in the Ultimate Fighting Championship normally battle each other for 3 or 5 rounds. Five rounds are required when a championship is at stake. For any other fight, only 3 rounds are required. However, all these rounds are all fought at high intensity. Therefore, for an MMA workout to have the same effect, you should also do your workout at a sustained pace with high intensity, performed in intervals to simulate rest in between rounds. This improves your cardio and endurance.
2. Work the Entire Body
The next tip for your MMA routine is to work the body. As all muscles function and move together, hence, it is good to conduct your MMA workout the same way. So instead of focusing on isolating one movement, it is better to do multiple exercises to train your body to move together.
3. Rotary Strength
If you research using MMA workout videos, you would notice that MMA fighters train using rotational movements, particularly when doing sit up exercises with medicine balls. Your MMA workout should use your mid-section as its base, since it is the center of your strength. There are several ways of doing this like hitting big tires with a sledgehammer, using medicine balls or even sandbags.
